Today we ventured into Munich to the Marienplatz. The Rathaus–Glockenspiel is always a fabulous site! You can look at it over and over in awe of it’s magnificence. As you can see from the crowds, today was a soccer day in Munich. The Allianz arena was hosting Bayern Munich vs Eintracht Frankfurt. We found it more difficult to make our way around because we are not used to this many people. I am sure with time, we’ll become more accustomed to wandering around in places like the Mairenplatz.

We decided to venture down some side streets to check out some of the wonderful architecture of Munich. On our walk we came across a Micheal Jackson tribute. It was quite beautiful and really touched us because nobody messes with any of the photo’s or flowers that people have left there.
The shrine is across from the Bayerischer Hof Hotel where Michael Jackson had stayed a few times. We thought it was a nice tribute to him and some of the pictures were really nice.

We continued on our walk and took numerous pictures around the Munich City Center area. It was a bit chilly outside and we know we’ll be back many times to explore more.

Someone asked who Maximilian was so I decided to add that information into this post. Maximilian Joseph Graf von Montegelas was a French-savoyard nobleman. You can read all about him here: Maximilian Joseph Count of Montgelas. I might suggest using Google Translate if appears in German.
After several hours of walking around we went back to the S Baun station and took the 25 minute train ride back to our village. We hope you enjoyed the photos! We had a great day in Munich’s City Center. Stay tuned for more tomorrow when we take our new bikes out for a cruise in the German countryside.
Thank you for sharing Munich’s City Center!
